Die betekenis van ‘n getal

‘n Interessante studie deur Gilbert Burnham en Leslie Roberts:

They meant to conduct epidemiological research on the war in Iraq. They would treat the war as a public health catastrophe, and apply epidemiological methods to answer a question essential to an occupying power with the legal obligation to protect the occupied: What had happened to the Iraqi people after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion?

Die antwoord: 654,965 mense het gesterf as gevolg van die Amerikaanse besetting van Irak, direk of indirek.

Dit laat mens bekommerd as jy die waarskuwing lees in The Economist:

Although the risk is hard to quantify, there exists a real possibility that George Bush will order a military strike on Iran some time before he leaves the White House two years from now.

2 jaar? Daarna is dit iemand anders se probleem.
